The Stanley Hydraulic Underwater Heavy Duty Breaker BR87 is a heavy-duty underwater tool made for commercial diving work in the 90 foot pound per blow impact class and above. With a longer piston stroke, the Stanley Hydraulic Underwater Heavy Duty Breaker BR87 is one of the hardest hitting handheld breakers that Stanley carries. The Stanley Hydraulic Underwater Heavy Duty Breaker BR87 is highly productive in underwater construction, breaking concrete and rock underwater, repair of water and gas mains underwater, and general underwater contracting jobs.

The Stanley Hydraulic Underwater Heavy Duty Breaker BR87 comes with hose whips and quick disconnect couplers.

The Stanley Hydraulic Underwater Heavy Duty Breaker BR87 has a feathering On/Off Valve which controls speed, making start-up and initial underwater tool placement easy. A diaphragm accumulator provides trouble-free operation and they will handle system back pressures up to 250 psi (17 bar).

The Stanley Hydraulic Underwater Heavy Duty Breaker BR87 operates on open-center systems and is available in 1-1/8 in. chuck hex size.

*Please reference the ATTACHMENTS tab for downloadable and printable files on this underwater tool.

The BR87 is the largest breaker in Stanley Hydraulic Tools line up of underwater paving breakers. The BR87 is in the 90-lb. class of breakers and with its long piston stroke, is their hardest hitting hand held breaker. The feathering on/off valve controls speed and allows easier initial tool placement. Standard 11⁄8 in. x 6 in. hex chuck and latch retainer. Painted hi-visibility yellow.

HYDRAULICS DELIVER A REAL BREAKTHROUGH

Nothing equals the impact force of hydraulic-powered breakers. With the best power-to-weight ratio, higher blow energy, and a lower noise level than pneumatic breakers, hydraulic percussion tools are simply the best choice. 70-lb. class breakers, for instance, deliver roughly the same impact energy as most 90-lb. pneumatic breakers. Internal components are continually bathed in hydraulic oil, providing long-lasting performance with minimal maintenance requirements. And because the hydraulic system is totally enclosed, there’s no tool exhaust or oil atomization often found with gas-powered or pneumatic alternatives.

Compared to other options, hydraulic breakers offer
  • Higher impact than comparably sized alternative platforms
  • No tool exhaust
  • Quieter operation than pneumatic tools allows for use in sensitive areas
  • Hydraulic oil provides continuous lubrication of internal parts for longer service life
  • Modular, re-buildable design platform improves serviceability
  • Handles system back pressures up to 250 psi / 17 bar
  • Feathering ON/OFF valve to control speed and make initial tool placement easy

A general rule of thumb when sizing the appropriate breaker for your application is to use 10 pounds for each inch of material. A 40-pound breaker, for instance, is a good fit for 4-inch concrete. A 90-lb. breaker would be used to break 9-inch concrete.

FAQ's
How do I clean the Valve Cap Assembly?
Stanley suggest soaking the filter in light oil after each use then blow the filter out with compressed air from the inside out while removed from the breaker. If the filter does not appear to be clean after this cleaning, replace the entire valve cap assembly.
Where is the Valve Cap Assembly located?
The Valve Cap Assembly looks like a large nut and is located on top of the Handle Assembly.
Will my tool operate if I use a lower flow rate than what would be considered optimum for the tool to operate?
Yes, most tools have an optimal flow range, as long as the gallons per minute delivered to the tool is within this range the tool will work. However, please be award that the tool will run at a slower speed based on the flow rated delivered to the tool. Basically, the lower the gallons per minute the slower the tool will run.
Do any of the Stanley hydraulic tools ship full of hydraulic oil?
No, but the factory normally will leave a little fluid inside the tool to help lubricate the internal components during storage.
