The Amron International Model 8211-01 Compact Two Diver Air Control Surface Command Unit (SCU) is ergonomically designed with the customer in mind. The 8211-01 is a compact, portable and affordable 2-diver Surface Command Unit that uses the high quality 2825A-07 AMCOM™ II 2-Diver Deluxe Communicator.
This Surface Command Unit is a self-contained high and low pressure air control and depth monitoring (pneumo) system for surface supplied commercial diving operations.
Easy set-up of high pressure or low pressure air sources greatly extends search and rescue diving capabilities. To use the Amron AMCOMMAND™ II with 4500 PSIG inlet air supply, simply change the yoke assembly to the SAA-5300 DIN Adapter 300 Bar.
The system comes standard with the field proven 2825A-07 AMCOM™ II 2-Diver Deluxe Communicator that is a full-featured, hard-wired two-diver communicator with independent microphone and earphone volume controls for the tender and each diver. It can be operated in both 2-Wire and/or Full Duplex (4-Wire) communication modes. Different modes can be used simultaneously. The communicator has a built-in internal charger and can be operated using a 90-264 VAC, internal 12 VDC battery, or an external 12 VDC power source.
It is manufactured with Amron’s high quality standards and over 40 years of experience in the diving industry. Ideal for the inland diver, but rugged enough for the offshore diver, the 8211-01 is a great Surface Command Unit for either application.
WARNING: DO NOT USE THE AMRON 8211-01 FOR THE FOLLOWING:
- Mixed gas diving operations with an oxygen level greater than 25%.
- Oxygen or oxygen enriched breathing mixtures above 25%.

FAQ's
If the unit is plugged into a live outlet and turning on the switch does not cause the AC POWER LED to light up, then the fuse(s) are probably blown. Unplug the unit from the outlet, remove the fuses and check continuity with a multimeter. Replace any fuse that does not show continuity.
Although it may be possible, we strongly discourage such operation. The added workload would cause overheating and stress to the amplifier card. Prolonged use in this condition will eventually cause permanent damage and failure to the amplifier card.
When operating your Amron Diver Communicator on AC, it is critical to use a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) or isolation transformer for tender and diver safety. Surges and spikes are common on AC lines found on ships, generated locally, or at the end of long extension cable runs and can exceed 1kVolt. Such surges and spikes can cause the fuse to blow on the amplifier card assembly. The power supply is designed so that such a failure will be isolated and will not cause a safety issue to the tender or divers. It is strongly advised that your Amron Diver Communicator be operated on an AC circuit with a high quality surge arrester or an AC isolation transformer.
To determine whether the problem is with the battery or charging circuitry, you will need to verify if the battery is being charged.
Troubleshooting:
- Unplug your communicator and turn on the POWER switch.
- Measure the voltage across the yellow PUSH-TO-TALK (PTT) jack and write down this value for future reference. It should be greater than 9 Volts.
- Plug the communicator into an AC source and verify that the AC POWER LED on the front panel turns on.
- Re-measure the voltage across the PTT jack and note it down for future reference. It should be higher than the previous measurement.
- If the AC POWER LED does not light up when the communicator is plugged in, then check fuse located on the amplifier card.
- Allow the communicator to charge overnight.
- Unplug the communicator and re-measure the voltage across the PTT jack.
- If it is the same or less than the voltage you measured previously, then the charger is broken and the communicator needs to be sent in for repairs
- If the voltage higher than previous measurement but less than 13.5 Volts, then the battery is bad and needs to be replaced.
- If it is greater than 13.5 Volts but it still appears that the battery is not holding a charge, contact Amron for additional support.
