The Amcom II Series 2820A diver communication radio system is a full featured hard wire, two diver communicator. The 2820A models have a single earphone volume control for diver's volume (down-link) and a single volume control for the tender (up-link).
All Amcom II Series communicators have Push-to-Talk and separate, isolated inputs for each diver. The Amcom II Series portable communications system delivers 20 watts "voice power"; operating from internal batteries or external 12 VDC power source. Models with the /23 or /24 option can be operated from either a 110/220 VAC, external 12 VDC power source, or an internal 12 VDC battery. All Amcom II Series communicators have the capability of 2-wire and/or 4-wire communication modes. 2-Wire and 4-wire modes can be used simultaneously.
The Amcom II Series communicator has the ability to work with both dynamic and pre-amplified microphones in either 2-wire or 4-wire modes. The circuit detects the type of microphone that each diver is using then automatically switches from the pre-amp mode to dynamic mode, adjusting the specific diver's gain (volume). The tender's volume is set louder than the diver's volume. This allows the tender to hear the diver in a noisy environment while maintaining the diver's volume at a comfortable level.

FAQ's
Although it may be possible, we strongly discourage such operation. The added workload would cause overheating and stress to the amplifier card. Prolonged use in this condition will eventually cause permanent damage and failure to the amplifier card.
When operating your Amron Diver Communicator on AC, it is critical to use a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) or isolation transformer for tender and diver safety. Surges and spikes are common on AC lines found on ships, generated locally, or at the end of long extension cable runs and can exceed 1kVolt. Such surges and spikes can cause the fuse to blow on the amplifier card assembly. The power supply is designed so that such a failure will be isolated and will not cause a safety issue to the tender or divers. It is strongly advised that your Amron Diver Communicator be operated on an AC circuit with a high quality surge arrester or an AC isolation transformer.
