Designed specially with diesel-powered military submarines in mind, this compact, robust O2 and CO2 monitor is also ideally suited to commercial manned submersible environmental monitoring.

Providing continual displays of the O2 and CO2 content in the enclosed space of a submersible with adjustable alarms and datalogging, what more could you need?

The Sub Aspida is a purpose designed portable monitor capable of detecting both CO2 and O2. This compact, rugged unit offers 12 hours battery life, audio, visual and vibration alarms as standard. In addition the Sub Aspida offers;

  • Automatic pressure correction of O2 and CO2 readings for more accurate results
  • Intelligent sensors ensure you know when the Sub Aspida needs maintaining
  • Data-logging and full user maintenance using Analox PC software
  • Diving chambers: the Sub Aspida can be mounted on the dive panel and provided with a pressure reduced sample line from the chamber.

The Sub Aspida is supplied with a push-in flow adaptor, USB cable and data download software as standard.

The Sub Aspida is the ideal solution to protect you and your team from the dangers of enriched oxygen (O2), carbon dioxide (CO2) or inert gas leaks. The Sub Aspida is a personal, portable monitor which is used to detect levels of carbon dioxide (CO2) and oxygen (O2) in pressurized environments. Due to its size, it is perfect as a secondary monitor. Unlike industrial sensing monitors, the Sub Aspida was designed with pressure corrected sensors, giving you 100% confidence in your readings.

Pressurized environments are unique, as are the gas detectors used to monitor the area. The Sub Aspida is a compact portable atmosphere monitor, which is easy to operate and maintain. This rugged and robust analyzer detects both carbon dioxide (CO2) and oxygen (O2) in pressurized environments from high altitudes to beneath the waves. The Sub Aspida has been upgraded to support those who work at high altitude. Pressure tested to 10,000 ft or 700 MB, the Sub Aspida will remain accurate and reliable when monitoring CO2 and O2 in the atmosphere, meaning you can concentrate on the job at hand.

Accuracy

The Sub Aspida also finds itself at home inside of submarine rescue vehicles (SRV), tourist submarines and research submarines. The Sub Aspida produces accurate readings over a pressure range of 800-1200 MB, without false alarms. Having the option to power the unit from AA alkaline batteries in the event of the submarine losing power makes it a perfect back up safety monitoring system in order to comply with the rules around SRV’s and life support stores with emergency monitoring being needed for a minimum of three days.

Regulations

For the transportation of COVID-19 vaccines requiring large quantities of dry ice, the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) advise that:

  • CO2 sensors installed or carried in the aircraft or worn by the pilots and other crew members will assist the operator and crew in recognizing hazardous concentrations of CO2 and implementing effective risk controls.
  • Pilot training on specific conditions and procedures can improve pilot decision-making in the event of a CO2 detector alert or other system abnormalities.
To persons conducting operations under Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulation (14 CFR) Parts 121, 125, 129, 135 on safety issues related to the transportation of COVID-19 vaccines by air, which may require larger than typical quantities of dry ice for preservation.

Operators must comply with applicable federal regulations pertaining to the carriage of dangerous goods (49 CFR parts 171-180).

Pressure

Whether you are measuring the atmosphere in an aircraft at altitude or in a submarine under the sea, the Sub Aspida can take the pressure. It is critical to use pressure compensated sensors in these environments, otherwise it’s likely that you will get false readings, exposing your team to potentially dangerous levels of gas. Relax, let the Sub Aspida take the pressure.

FAQ's
What does it mean if my Sub Aspida won't calibrate for O2, I have tried different span gases but I keep getting calibration fail?
It sounds like the O2 cell has depleted. As the cell depletes due to oxygen exposure its output reduces. The Sub-Aspida accounts for this and displays a corrected reading. However when the cell depletes too much, the Sub-Aspida refuses to calibrate, this is to prevent incorrect readings from the Oxygen cell. Please contact your vendor and order a new Oxygen cell.
