The Amron Model 9000-ECS External Hyperbaric Chamber Conditioning System is the supply source for chilled or heated water.

Amron’s Model 9000-ECS Environmental Control System consists of a sealed refrigeration unit, coolant reservoir, circulation pump and heater. The pump circulates coolant (50% propylene glycol, 50% water) through the 9000-ECS reservoir where it’s heated or cooled, and on to the hyperbaric chamber through plumbing where the cooled or heated fluid circulates through Amron’s 9100-ICS2 internal conditioning system. Fans in the 9100-ICS2 blow across its heat exchanger, providing cooled or heated air for chamber occupants.

The 9000-ECS system controls the temperature range of circulating coolant to a minimum of 20° F and maximum of 110° F. The amount of cooling or heating inside the chamber is controlled by whether the fans are running. Humidity removal is accomplished by circulating cold water through the 9100-ICS2 internal conditioning system. That causes moisture in the air to condense on the heat exchanger coils, lowering the humidity within the chamber.

The heating and cooling capacity of the 9000-ECS and 9100-ICS2 is suitable for use in most double lock decompression chambers ranging in size from 54 inch to 72 inch diameters. The 9000-ECS should be installed on a level site with clearance for air circulation, where plumbing and electrical connections are located, and at the same elevation as the chamber.

FAQ's
Does the 9000-ECS External Hyperbaric Chamber Conditioning System come with the glycol and water cooling media?

No, prior to operating the system you will have to fill the unit with 50% ethylene or propylene glycol and 50% water. Please note: Do not operate the system without fluid, as the circulating pump requires fluid for lubrication and cooling.

Where can I purchase Ethylene or Propylene Glycol for the 9000-ECS External Hyperbaric Chamber Conditioning System?

Amron recommends using Sierra automotive antifreeze in a 50/50 mixture. Sierra automotive antifreeze can be purchased at most automotive retail stores.

What size chamber is the 9000-ECS External Hyperbaric Chamber Conditioning System unit able to cool/heat?

The 9000-ECS Environmental Control System was designed to provide chilled or heated fluid for temperature control of a standard 54” deck decompression chamber but in some situations it can cool/heat chambers as large as 72”. The 9000-ECS is used in conjunction with an internal conditioning unit (heat exchanger) located inside the deck decompression chamber. On systems larger than 54” please use two internal conditioning units or more as needed.

What are the operating temperatures or range of temperatures displayed on the gauges for the heat and cold setting for the 9000-ECS External Hyperbaric Chamber Conditioning System?

Both gauges have an operating range of 0 to 250 o F (-20 to 120 o C) with an accuracy of +/- 1% of full scale

How do I drain the fluid/antifreeze out of the reservoir?

Any hand operated siphon pump will be able to remove the fluid/antifreeze from the 9000-ECS reservoir. If you want to drain the entire system, you can simply remove the hose connection at the base of the reservoir and allow the fluid to drain out.

How often should I drain and replace my glycol/water mixture on my 9000-ECS Conditioning unit?
Amron recommends changing the glycol/water mixture every year.
Can you install more than one 9000-ECS on a chamber?
There is no problem installing two 9000-ECS units on a chamber. This has been done many times on larger chambers where they require a faster response time for cooling and heating. Please note that each 9000-ECS can support up to three (3) 9100-ICS2’s.
How many 9100-ICS2’s can I install in my chamber if I’m using one 9000-ECS?
The 9000-ECS can support up to three 9100-ICS2 units.
