Amron International's new 450M BIBS Mask is the perfect combination of performance, durability and comfort. The Amron 450M BIBS Mask was specifically designed and tested to meet the rigorous Norsok U-101:1999 breathing standard. Unlike other BIBS on the market today, Amron's 450M BIBS Mask is built to withstand the extreme conditions found in a saturation diving environment.

The Amron 450M BIBS Mask demand regulator is fully adjustable to allow for easy breathing from surface decompression all the way down to 450 meters pressurized depth. Diver’s comfort was a major consideration so the 450M comes standard with a comfortable oral nasal and a supportive head strap.

For chamber depths over 99 feet of seawater, a secondary vacuum regulator must be installed (see Tescom Regulator Part #: 26-2912-282A). A hull-stop valve should be an integral part of the hyperbaric system; used as a safety device to shut down the vacuum should a pressure loss occur. The vacuum regulator allows the exhaled gases to be carried to the outside of the chamber thereby eliminating oxygen buildup or contamination of the chamber environment.

FAQ's
Can I use my 450M BIBS mask for surface decompression?

The 450M BIBS mask was designed to be used at depths between 0 to 450 MSW which gives our customers the widest working depth rating available on the market today. The 450M perfoms best from depths between 350 MSW and 450 MSW.

If you plan on using your BIBS system at depths shallower than 350 MSW, we recommend that you purchase the Amron 350M BIBS mask.

Can I use Nitrox with my BIBS mask?
Yes. The 350M and 450M BIBS mask was designed to be used with Oxygen, Breathing Quality Air, and Heliox. Nitrox being a mixture of oxygen and breathing quality air would also be an acceptable gas source.
My Amron BIBS mask is hard to breathe from despite having the mask adjustment screws set to the optimum setting?
Typically this is a sign that the supply pressure is set to low and should be increased to around 175 psi over your chamber pressure. Example: If your chamber is pressurized to 100 feet of seaward then the regulator on your high pressure oxygen bottle should be set to 219 psi (44 psi chamber pressure + 175 psi = 219 psi regulator output pressure).
Does the Amron 450M BIBS mask meet the guideline set forth by DNV-OS-E402?

Yes.

Can I overhaul my 450M BIBS Mask or do I have to send it back to Amron for service?

Yes, you can overhaul the 450M BIBS Mask. The user manual provides factory suggested procedures and instructions for operating, maintaining and servicing the Amron 450M BIBS Mask. Any service or maintenance performed on the 450M breathing system shall be done only by those facilities experienced in or by personnel knowledgeable in oxygen equipment.

Is the Amron 450M BIBS mask a replacement for the Avox Pressur-Vak II?

The 450M BIBS mask was designed to be used from 0 - 450 MSW depths which gives our customers the widest working depth rating available on the market today. The 450M perfoms best from depths between 350 MSW and 450 MSW.

The Avox Pressur-Vak II BIBS mask system has been commonly used in hyperbaric chambers to depths of up to 100 MSW for many years.  Amron is pleased to confirm that the Avox Pressur-Vak II will continue to be readily available from Amron for many years to come.

Is the AVOX 801804-00 First Stage Pressure Reducing Regulator compatible with the Amron 350M or 450M BIBS Mask?
No.
Are the hose connections on the Amron BIBS mask the same as the Avox hose connections?

Yes, both the Amron and Avox BIBS Mask connect to same Hansen quick disconnects.  Amron part number 59853-00 for the exhaust quick disconnect and 18969-00 for the oxygen inlet.

What does BIBS stand for?

Built-in Breathing System

How often should I clean my BIBS Mask Hose Assembly?
The frequency of cleaning will vary based on the hours of use. Typically the hoses should be internally cleaned at least every 6 months. They can be cleaned with SaniZide or soap & warm water, rinsed with water, and dried. Some facilities require them to be cleaned to a specific O2 cleaning standard.
Do you have Declaration of conformity for Amron 450M-01 BIBS Mask. I found only CE on your website.
Yes. It is Amron's QA-FRM-010 Certificate of Conformance. https://www.amronintl.com/amron-cert-of-conformance-qa-frm-010.html
Is it possible to use these masks for emergency breathing supply in a submarine that is able to dive up to 1000 MSW. The hyperbaric chamber has a constant pressure of 1,3 bar?
Please note that this BIBS is rated to 450 MSW and has not been tested to 1000 MSW.
