Reaction Principle:

• CH2=CH-COOCH3 + Pd-Molybdate complex → blue reaction product

Cross Sensitivity:

• Other compounds with C=C double bonds are indicated, but with different sensitivities.
• It is impossible to differentiate between them.
• It is impossible to measure methyl acrylate in the presence of hydrogen sulfide.
• Hydrogen sulfide will discolor the indicating layer black.
• Carbon monoxide in high concentrations discolors the indicating layer pale blue grey.
