FAQ's
Will the 2810A-FS Field Service kit work on my 2810-01, 2810E and/or 2810A Communicator?

Yes, the 2810A-FS Field Service kit will work on the 2810-01, 2810A and 2810E communicators.

Can you stack the banana plugs from the diver's communications cable so you can have two or three divers on the one diver communicator?

You can stack up to two divers on the one diver communicator. Stacking three divers is not recommended.

Can the diver listen to music if his umbilical is configured for 2-Wire communications?

No. The MP3 Player feature can only operate in 4-Wire mode.

How do I control the music volume I’m sending the diver?

There is no separate volume control provided for the MP3 player input so you will have to use the MP3 player to control the music volume.

Will the tender hear the music the diver is listening to?

No, the signal can not be heard by the tender.

Will my recording device record the music the diver is listening to?

No, the music signal is not sent to the tape recorder output.

If I were to connect my smartphone to the MP3 player input, would the diver be able to speak to someone over the phone?

Yes, however the tender is required to turn on the communicator speaker and set the phone’s microphone next to it so the caller can hear the diver. We also found that the diver’s voice can be difficult to understand for the caller, so we recommend that the diver speak very slowly and clearly.

Is there a technical difference to the "old" model? Is the voice Quality the same?
The battery life has been extended to 85 hours. The voice quality is the same as the older model.
Is the Manual for the 2810-01 avaiable in different Languages (esp. German)?
Currently, Amron's manuals only come in English.
What type of cable do I need to connect my Amron communicator to my Outland video system?
Amron communicators and Outland Technology’s video systems have a RCA Phono Jack. To connect the two systems together, you will need an audio cable with RCA Plugs on each end.
Should I use a GFI when operating my radio off AC power?

When operating your Amron Diver Communicator on AC, it is critical to use a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) or isolation transformer for tender and diver safety. Surges and spikes are common on AC lines found on ships, generated locally, or at the end of long extension cable runs and can exceed 1kVolt. Such surges and spikes can cause the fuse to blow on the amplifier card assembly. The power supply is designed so that such a failure will be isolated and will not cause a safety issue to the tender or divers. It is strongly advised that your Amron Diver Communicator be operated on an AC circuit with a high quality surge arrester or an AC isolation transformer.

Can I operate my communicator while I’m charging the internal battery?
Yes, however, the charger will charge the battery at a slower rate as some of the charger power is being used to operate the communicator.
Can my Amcom communicator work on 240V / 60Hz?
Yes, the unit has an operating range of 90-264 VAC, 50-60 Hz..
What are the environmental parameters that Amron's comms units can be used in?
Temperature: Class C Ambient Temperatures –25°C to +55°C Humidity: Class A Relative humidity up to 96% at all relevant temperatures, no condensation Vibration: Class A On bulkheads, beams, deck, bridge EMC: Class B All locations including bridge and open deck
