We want to bring your attention to UK Health & Safety Executive’s (HSE) Diving Inspectorate recently issued Safety Flash on the importance of sizing of latex neck seals used with diving equipment.

Latex neck seals used in the diving industry need to be correctly fitted to the diver. The seals are supplied by the manufacturer in a range of sizes. When used, these can then be trimmed for a comfortable, yet waterproof fit. Although it is a simple and basic procedure, the potential outcome of getting it wrong is grave. Diving contractors, supervisors and divers must ensure that neck seals are correctly sized and fitted for the individual diver.

Further details on how to install and fit a neck seal can be found on Page 114 of the Kirby Morgan 17C Manual at http://kirbymorgan.com/sites/default/files/pdf/manuals/high_rez/17C_Manual_Book_hi.pdf
