The History of Amron

Thirty years ago, amidst the changing tides of the U.S. economy, Amron International's founder, Norma Ockwig, saw an opportunity and began selling commercial diving and hyperbaric equipment to the international offshore oil industry. Thus, in 1978, Normco, a sole proprietorship was formed. In 1979, the company was incorporated and renamed Amron International Diving Supply Inc. Since its founding, Amron has been growing and nurturing an ever-expanding line of products serving its customer base, which includes virtually every industry, market and profession that is in or around water, as well as tactical and personal protection equipment.

Now headquartered on the beautiful California coast in Vista, California, and with a satellite office in Virginia Beach, Virginia, Amron continues to serve its wide-spectrum of customers including the armed forces, diving contractors, schools and universities, medical centers, as well as federal, state and local law enforcement agencies.

Throughout its existence, Amron has been fortunate to develop long-term relationships with hundreds of major reputable manufacturers and has been granted numerous exclusive U.S. and worldwide distributorships. Amron also develops and manufactures several lines of equipment highly respected within the underwater and hyperbaric industries, including Amcom™ diver communicators, helium unscramblers, oxygen treatment panels and hoods, chamber conditioning systems, vulcanized rubber drysuits and a countless array of other cutting-edge products.

As an unmatchable force in motivation and ingenuity, Amron's manufacturing team continually refines its products by using only the best, most state-of-the-art, technology as well as feedback and exchange from its already existing customer base. As a testament to the efficiency and productivity of this process, the U.S. government has tested several of Amron's communicators and approved them for U.S. military diving use.
