Draeger Safety Short-Term Detector Tubes are used to measure the concentration of specific contaminants in the air instantaneously. Currently there are about 160 short-term tubes available for determining and measuring more than 350 different gases, vapors and aerosols. The Short-Term Tubes can be used in conjunction with the Accuro Bellows Pump or the Accuro 2000 gas detection system.
Draeger Tubes are glass vials filled with a chemical reagent that reacts to a specific chemical or family of chemicals. A calibrated 100 ml sample of air is drawn through the tube with the Draeger Accuro Bellows Pump. If the targeted chemical(s) is present, the reagent in the tube changes its color, and the length of the color change typically indicates the measured concentration.
Due to its effectiveness in accurate and instant measurement of air-contamination, the Draeger Tubes System is the world’s most popular form of gas detection.

Product FAQ's
-
What is the shelf life of the Draeger detector tubes?
Two years is the shelf life. The expiration dates are stamped on the outside of the tube boxes upon shipping, The only exception is the Natural Gas Test which is part number CH20001. It has a one year shelf life.
-
Can Draeger tubes and pumps be interchanged with tubes and pumps from other manufacturers?
No, they cannot be interchanged. Every manufacturer calibrates their pumps and tubes to work together, so interchanging them may produce erroneous results.
-
Can detector tubes be shipped via air?
Yes, most can be shipped. There are two exceptions. The Halogenated Hydrocarbons tubes and the Sulfuryl Fluoride tubes cannot be shipped by air. They must be shipped by motor freight only due to being classified as hazardous goods.
-
Can you detect Benzene specifically with Draeger tubes in the presence of other hydrocarbons such as toluene or xylene?
Yes we can. The Benzene 0.5/C tubes, part number 8101841, can do this. They utilize a scrubbing tube, which removes all interfering gases, and leaves strictly benzene. There are 5 tests in this box of tubes, utilizing the double tube system, with 5 scrubbing pre-tubes and 5 indicating tubes.
-
How do I dispose of used/unused Draeger tubes?
Contact Draeger Safety’s tech support team at 877-DRAEGER (372-3437) to obtain documentation on this matter.
-
Are Draeger tubes considered to be hazardous material?
No. With only a few exceptions, being the halogenated hydrocarbons tubes, the sulfuryl fluoride tubes, and the air current tubes.
-
How many tubes come in a box?
Generally, 99.9% of the time it will be ten tubes per box.
-
What is the volume of air that the Accuro takes into the tubes?
The Accuro pump takes in 100ml of air per stroke.
