We are trying to sort out a cleaning regime for our Oxygen treatment hoods. The method as stated on the general instructions does not suit our unit due to the clean area that would be required to drip dry the hoods. Is there any other approved method of c
We only have two methods approved for cleaning.
1) The first is spraying Sanizide and letting the hood sit for 10 minutes.
2) The second is gas sterilization using the method below:
- Low - 4 hours at 100 degrees with an aeration time of 36 hours
- High - 1 hour at 130 degrees with an aeration time of 12 hours
Using the gas sterilization will shorten the life of the hood but we have many customers that use it and are very happy with the results.

Is there any data on the flow rate needed to achieve 100% FiO2 in the Oxygen Treatment Hood with different head sizes? No. There are too many variables involved in determining the FiO2 inside the Oxygen Treatment Hood using a data chart or mathematical formula. Besides fixed factors like oxygen flow rate and exhaust rates, you have patient factors as well, patient head size, patient tidal volume and breathing rate, and patient health just to name a few. To offer your patients the highest concentration of oxygen, Amron suggest setting the oxygen flow rate between 25-50 lpm (Liters Per Minute) and using an Amron Exhaust Regulator 8890-300. The Amron Exhaust Regulator provides automatic exhaust of excess gas from the treatment hood regardless of input flow of oxygen. It will also track the supply flow and increase and decrease the exhaust flow as necessary. The easiest way to determine FiO2 inside the Oxygen Treatment Hood is to connect an oxygen analyzer to the hood by using the multi-purpose port. Analyzing a gas sample from inside the treatment hood in real time will give you an idea of what oxygen concentration the patient is breathing.
