Amron International Introduces New BIBS Breathing Masks

VISTA, Calif., October 1, 2012 — To meet the changing needs of deepwater saturation diving, Amron International has developed the new 450M BIBS Mask and the 350M BIBS Mask. These new masks have been exhaustively performance tested and are certified to meet the toughest industry requirements, ensuring divers will have a reliable supply of air, oxygen or mixed gas.

Amron engineers designed the masks completely from scratch, using advanced technologies to improve on traditional BIBS Breathing Systems. The patent-pending mask features rugged housing and stainless steel valve assemblies, greatly improving durability over competitors’ masks. The breathing system uses minimal resistance for both inhaling and exhaling, requiring less effort for normal breathing. The inhaler side uses a pneumatically balanced second-stage regulator with fine-tune adjustment that allows the diver to control the amount of incoming gas. The exhaust side is a pneumatically balanced second-stage regulator with a valve that expels gases overboard, eliminating carbon dioxide build-up.

“We’re very excited to bring these advanced BIBS masks to the market because they are extremely reliable during extended usage and will stand up to the tough conditions usually found in hyperbaric chambers,” said Scott Ritchie, VP Manufacturing, Amron International. “Most others masks can’t take the abuse and they’re built using decades-old designs. We wanted to build a new mask from the ground up, giving divers in the deepest waters the best BIBS mask possible in the event of hyperbaric environment contamination. These divers have extremely difficult jobs, and the last thing they should have to worry about is their equipment. Both the divers and operators can rest assured these new Amron BIBS masks will perform to the designed depth limits of their deepwater saturation system.”

Both the Amron BIBS 450M Mask and the BIBS 350M Mask were tested and approved by NUI/Thelma in Norway and have been certified to meet the Norsok U-101:1999 requirements. The masks can be used with Air, Oxygen or Heliox.

Great care was also taken to make sure the masks would be as comfortable as possible. A flexible silicone oral-nasal has been designed to fit a wide range of face shapes. It surrounds both the nose and mouth, reducing strain on the nasal bridge and jaw. A new, mesh full-head support is lighter and more breathable, which greatly improves comfort. A unique microphone jack can be linked to an external speaker for clear communications with people outside the saturation system.

Amron Starts “Brand of the Month” Promotion

VISTA, Calif., March 1, 2012 — Amron International, a leading manufacturer and supplier of commercial diving equipment and other outdoor gear, is starting a new promotional program that will provide exciting benefits for both its vendors and customers. Beginning in March, Amron will be featuring one of its partners as the “Brand of the Month” that will include special sales incentives, giveaways, and digital and social media exposure.

The first Brand of the Month will be Kirby Morgan, the leading name in commercial diving helmets and full-face masks. As part of the initial promotion, Amron will be giving away a Kirby Morgan Men’s Sport Watch, which has a $125 retail value. Amron International Introduces Latest Addition to Amcom Family
New Amcom I Communicator features diver-safe MP3 compatibility, performance upgrades

VISTA, Calif., February 6, 2012 — Renowned for its cutting-edge diver communicators, Amron International has released its latest versions of the Amcom I Communicator, featuring various performance improvements and the addition of MP3 connectors that allows divers to listen to their favorite music while they work under water.

Inspired by stories heard directly from commercial divers, Amron set out to develop a safe entertainment solution that would help break up the monotony of spending long working hours under water. After learning that divers had been attempting to modify communicators with their own music systems, sometimes resulting in safety hazards, Amron was determined to create a communicator integrated with MP3 compatibility that was both functional and safe.

Amron engineers redesigned the electronics to provide improved sound clarity with the tender using either the panel speaker or headset. Diver safety was of the utmost importance during product development. As a result, the MP3 player is only active in 4-wire mode to ensure the diver can always communicate with the tender. In addition, music will cut off immediately once the push-to-talk button is pressed, and the supervisor can unplug the MP3 player at any time if the need arises. The Tape Record Jack has been separated from the MP3 player, so no music will ever be heard on playback.

The redesigned PC card allowed Amron engineers the opportunity to incorporate a high-efficiency digital power amplifier that significantly improved battery life. The rechargeable Amcom I Communicator can now run for up to 85 hours, and the non-rechargeable Amcom I Communicator uses 6V lantern batteries with a life cycle of up to 120 hours. The rechargeable batteries utilize gel-cell technology and are powered up with Amron’s external charger, which can be plugged in where AC power is available. The unit also can be left charging for long periods without causing any damage to either the batteries or the communicator. The increased power provides 20 watts per channel and allows for the stacking of two divers.

The signature yellow hard case is extremely durable and waterproof. During inclement weather, the external jacks allow the lid to be closed to protect the unit while still providing complete communications functionality with the diver. Operating instructions were added to the inside of the lid for ease of use, and printed in white-on-black for improved visibility in dim lighting.
