ALL SureLock II Rubber Weight Pocket Handles

Aqua Lung is conducting a voluntary recall of all SureLock II rubber weight pocket handles. SureLock II is the mechanical weight release system found on most Aqua Lung buoyancy compensators (BCs) beginning in 2009. Whether you have an original rubber handle or one of the revised rubber handles from the previous recall, Aqua Lung would now like to replace it with the latest generation handle, p/n 12396.

Aqua Lung is concerned about the life expectancy of both models of rubber handles. A failure may occur due to separation of the rubber, cracking, tearing or breaking. If this were to occur during a dive, the weight pocket would be left engaged inside the BC. While there are no known occurrences of this happening underwater, and there have not been any reported injuries, Aqua Lung believes that a recall is the safe and prudent thing to do. The newest generation of handle does not rely upon rubber and is considered much stronger and safer.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using their BCs with Sure Lock II rubber weight pocket handles. Bring the pockets to your nearest authorized Aqua Lung Dive Retailer or Dive Center. They will be able to replace your handles for you while you wait, as changing handles is a quick process. The replacement is made under warranty and you will not incur any charges.

This recall is being conducted in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

<![CDATA[Kirby Morgan Bulletin 12: Change Bulletin]]> http://www.amronintl.com/blog/kirby-morgan-bulletin-12-change-bulletin/ Subject: Change Bulletin

540-039 Front Stand Offs (x2 per helmet) added to Kirby Morgan Helmets

Helmets and Products Affected: All Kirby Morgan Helmets except the SuperLite 17B. 560-074 Bottom Ring, 560-517 Stainless Steel Helmet Shell. All shells with Bottom Ring Assemblies: 505-105, 505-106, 505-107, 505-108, 505-162.

With the exception of the SL 17B, all Kirby Morgan Helmets will soon be shipping with the new Front Stand Offs, P/N 540-039 (two per helmet). These serve as “front legs” that will help protect the swing catch assembly, sealed pull pins and other components from damages if the helmet is set down roughly or hard. Each stand off takes one screw, P/N 530-059, to attach.

Front Stand Offs unfortunately will not retrofit to earlier helmets. Retrofit is not possible because the large bottom ring area has now been specially redesigned with uniquely shaped recesses to hold the front stand offs.

<![CDATA[Kirby Morgan Bulletin 9: Caution Bulletin]]> http://www.amronintl.com/blog/kirby-morgan-bulletin-caution-bulletin/ Subject: Caution Bulletin

Regarding Second Stages Used with M-48 Supermask® (P/N: 800-048) and M-48 MOD 1 (P/N: 800-150)

Kirby Morgan Dive Systems Inc.® DOES NOT recommend using balloon type valve second stage regulators, e.g., the Poseidon Jet Stream,® or XSTREAM® models, or any regulators that could well exceed 40 millibars (MBR) of pressure when the purge is fully depressed, on the M-48 SuperMask, P/N 800-048 or the M-48 MOD 1, P/N 800-150.

The Poseidon Jet Stream® and the XSTREAM® models are high performance regulators that are capable of delivering very large volumes of air when the purge is fully depressed. This high gas flow can be sudden and dramatic, and while this condition may not post a significant risk to a non-full face mask diver, it could pose a significant risk when using the M-48 SuperMask or M-48 MOD 1 because the seal provided by these masks may not allow overpressure air from around the diver's lips to escape and vent quickly enough, causing oral and lung pressures to exceed the 40 MBR positive pressure limit which could be hazardous to the diver.

If an overpressure event as described above occurs, this could result in serious injury or death.
