<![CDATA[Kirby Morgan Bulletin 8 of 2015: Caution Bulletin]]> http://www.amronintl.com/blog/kirby-morgan-bulletin-8-of-2015-caution-bulletin/ Bulletin #8 of 2015 - July 2, 2015

Subject: Caution Bulletin

The purpose of this bulletin is to CAUTION against using non-genuine Kirby Morgan parts. Kirby Morgan equipment has been designed, built and tested to exacting specifications for proper fit, form and function and your safety! All components of Kirby Morgan® Helmets and BandMasks® are CR and CE compliant.

Be aware that even something as “simple” as a Kirby Morgan® Head Cushion has undergone stringent testing in order to gain CE approval (very expensive) so that it can be sold in CE countries. The head cushion has also gone through trials, analysis and evaluation for CR compliance and military approval.

(Ref. p/n 510-754 & 510-521 Head cushions).

A cheaper, un-tested, NON-GENUINE Head Cushion can present the danger of foam that could off-gas toxic fumes or exude toxic liquids if wet!

Kirby Morgan® carefully sources the foam we use from special vendors to be sure there is no possibility of off-gassing or toxicity within the foam or other materials. This is just one example. Again, all components of Kirby Morgan® Helmets and BandMasks® are CR and CE compliant.

After-market products are not CR or CE marked and use of these products will void warranty plus, helmets and BandMasks® with non-genuine parts will not pass inspection.

<![CDATA[Kirby Morgan Bulletin 7 of 2015: Product Change]]> http://www.amronintl.com/blog/kirby-morgan-bulletin-7-of-2015-product-change/ Bulletin #7 of 2015 - May 26, 2015

Subject: Product Change

Effective immediately, 530-145 Locknuts no longer included with Kirby Morgan Band Mask® Hoods. 510-712 replaces 525-740.

Products Affected:

Standard (foam face seal) Hood Assemblies with Lock nuts: 525-740.

Molded Face Seal Hood Assemblies: P/Ns 525-730, 525-731, 525-732, 525-733, 525-734, 525-735, 525- 736, 525-737

Mask Spares Kit 18/28: P/N 525-327.

Overseas Spares Kit 18/28: P/N 525-319.

530-145 lock nuts have been shipping along with spare BandMask® hoods since January 2004. Reference bulletin, Change to Product #1 of 2004. These locknuts are no longer included. Explanation below.

The primary example of the “spare BandMask® Hood” most of you are familiar with is the 525-740.

P/N 510-712 is the standard hood you have been receiving when ordering P/N 525-740, and the hood that is the standard on all production BandMasks®.

This lock nut was used only in the very first, original model Hood & Keeper Kit (ref. Bulletin #4 of 2003). The original model Band Keepers became obsolete March 2004, no longer requiring the 530-145 lock nut. A much easier & efficient band keeper kit was introduced late April 2004 (ref. an “All Dealer Faxed Notice May 11, 2004). Locknuts were shipping with hoods as an assurance that anyone still using the original keepers receive a new lock nut (an extra was also included) for the bottom band keeper when changing the hood. The 530-145 nut is a one-time use only lock nut.

If some customers do still happen to be using the original band keepers, they may purchase replacement lock nuts.

No other part number changes. No price changes at this time.

Kirby Morgan strongly recommends the use of band keepers on all KMB 18 and 28 BandMasks®:

525-172 Band Keepers with Hood

525-121 Band Keeper Kit, No Hood

<![CDATA[Kirby Morgan Bulletin 6 of 2015: Maintenance & Repair]]> http://www.amronintl.com/blog/kirby-morgan-bulletin-6-of-2015-maintenance-and-repair/ Bulletin #6 of 2015 - May 4, 2015

Subject: Maintenance & Repair

This bulletin is to serve as a reminder of an important difference in installation procedure between the port retainer screws for the fiberglass helmets verses those of the stainless steel helmets.

When reinstalling the port retainer screws on fiberglass helmets, DO NOT use Loctite® thread locker.

When reinstalling the port retainer screws on stainless steel helmets, Loctite® 248 Medium Strength, non-drip thread locker is used.

The above and more detailed information on procedure, torques and thread locker requirements will also be found in the Operations & Maintenance Manuals.

<![CDATA[Kirby Morgan Bulletin 5 of 2015: Product Change]]> http://www.amronintl.com/blog/kirby-morgan-bulletin-5-of-2015-product-change/ Bulletin #5 of 2015 - April 27, 2015

Subject: Change to Product

550-232 Sleeves for the sealed pull pins now marked with groove, effective immediately.

Products Affected:

550-232 Pull Pin Sleeve (sold in the 525-112 Sleeve Kits only. Two per kit.)

525-112 Pull Pin Sleeve Kit

When used with the stainless steel helmets, Kirby Morgan recommends shortening the sleeves (550-232) a small amount, for improved fit and function. A groove marking the best area to trim the sleeve is now machined into the material around the small end of the sleeve, as shown on the bulletin.

Again, the 550-232 Sleeves are sold only in kits of two, 525-112. The kit contains instructions on trimming when used with the Kirby Morgan stainless steel helmets.

Kirby Morgan does not recommend trimming earlier sleeves that do not have the machined groove.

NOTE: Sleeves with grooves are shipping now. Order 525-112 Pull Pin Sleeve Kit.

There is no change to price or part number at this time.
